Machinist

Machinists are the backbone of our business, delivering excellence in custom machined parts to our customers with their technical ability and attention to detail. As a machinist at Leppert Machine, you will have the opportunity to learn the trade or hone your skills while working alongside some of the most talented machinists in the trade and on a variety of different machines and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Read technical drawings/blueprints/etc.
  • Determine appropriate machines and setups to produce parts per drawing specifications and within tolerance
  • Operate various machines (manual and/or CNC) to produce parts
  • Take precision measurements to ensure parts are made within drawing specification using a variety of tools
  • Prepare parts for final inspection by deburing, grinding, cleaning, etc
  • Operate overhead cranes, chainfalls, etc to load/unload parts from various machines
  • Perform periodic cleaning and machine maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Mathematical skills: algebra, trigonometry, basic mathematics
  • Experience performing precision measurement using a variety of tools and techniques
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of cutting conditions (speeds/feeds) for various materials
  • On the job experience as a machinist or completion of a vocational machining program
  • (Optional) CNC operation and/or programming knowledge
